Curt Brown

Curt Brown

Curt Brown has experience advising clients on a variety of business litigation, transactional, and securities law matters. In 2015, he was named a California Lawyer of the Year by The Daily Journal, and Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the USC Law School Public Interest Law Fund.

Mr. Brown started his legal career in the Los Angeles office of the prestigious firm of Irell & Manella LLP, where his practice focused on a wide variety of complex civil litigation matters, including securities litigation, antitrust, trademark, bankruptcy, and class action defense. Mr. Brown also has experience advising mergers and acquisitions and international companies concerning cyber liability and class action defense.

Mr. Brown earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was a Michael T. Masin Scholar and Staff Editor of the Entertainment Law Review.

Curt Brown

Joon Song

Joon Song handles all aspects of corporate and commercial litigation, and has deep experience in every stage of litigation, from initiating pleadings, conducting discovery, engaging in motions practice, and preparing for trial. Joon has drafted writs and appellate briefs submitted to the California Court of Appeal, and well-versed in conducting legal analysis, including researching legislative history and issues of first impression.

Prior to joining L&F Brown, P.C., Joon was senior associate at a boutique Century City litigation firm in which he represented clients on a variety of matters including partnership disputes, business litigation, and real estate litigation. He also spent nearly eight years with another boutique firm in Los Angeles and represented Fortune 5, 100, and 500 companies in the public utility, energy, and advertising industries. His practice at both firms was wide-ranging and involved advising his clients on matters as diverse as wrongful foreclosures and shareholder derivative lawsuits, personal injury and products liability defense, eminent domain, inverse condemnation, breaches of contract, Federal and California credit reporting act violations, and applications of the Public Utility Code and Commercial Code.

Joon double-majored in political science and public health at the University of California, Berkeley, and received his JD from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a managing editor of The George Washington International Law Review and an intern to the Honorable Donald F. Parsons of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Joon is admitted to practice in California, the Eastern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Joon is also engaged in his community, and is active with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Asian Business Association. In his free time, he enjoys photography and writing, and is studying to be a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Joyce Ma

Joyce H. Ma focuses her practice in the areas commercial and business litigation, real estate transactions and litigation, and general liability matters in State and Federal Court. Her extensive experience as an entrepreneur and business woman has helped Ms. Ma consistently attain exceptional results in the courtroom as well as in various dispute resolutions forums, while maintaining her sensitivity to each client’s personal and enterprise concerns.

Ms. Ma’s clients include major corporations including Fortune 500 Companies and multi-national corporations, as well as small businesses, sole proprietors, and government entities. She provides expert guidance on all aspects of operations and risk management in such areas as partnership disputes, contract disputes, intellectual property, construction, labor and employment, and securities.

During her graduate career at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Ms. Ma served as Copy Editor for the Southern California Review of Law and Social Justice and authored the article, “Proposition 8 and Education (19 S. Cal. Rev. L. & Social Justice 149). She has participated in the Post-Conviction Justice Project through the advance clinic program at University of Southern California where she represented inmates as a certified student. In addition to acting as counsel in parole hearings, Ms. Ma also appeared before the California Court of Appeals on a Habeas Corpus petition on behalf of her client, which was granted by the Appellate Court.

Jordan Cohen

Jordan Cohen

Jordan Cohen is a seasoned litigator and trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience. Specializing in employment litigation, Mr. Cohen handles a variety of employment related disputes on behalf of employers and the employees.

Mr. Cohen’s expertise extends to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, PAGA claims, wage and hour claims and other labor and employment litigation disputes. Mr. Cohen works closely with his clients, providing them with strategies and solutions that fit their unique needs.

Prior to joining L&F Brown, P.C. Mr. Cohen founded and acted as senior counsel for Pro Athlete Law Group, a firm specializing in the representation of professional athletes in labor-related matters. He also served as General Counsel and CEO for a licensed California cannabis testing laboratory.

Mr. Cohen is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers Seminar. He is a volunteer board member for the North Valley Music School and donates his time to the North Valley Food Bank.

When not advocating for his clients, Mr. Cohen is an accomplished outdoor athlete and professional mountain guide. He enjoys outdoor cycling, running, Nordic skiing and exploring the mountains with his partner Xenia and their two bird dogs, Sage and Ryder.

Chris Howard

Chris Howard

Chris specializes in franchise and corporate law, representing both franchisors and franchisees all across the country.

Born in Maryland and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Chris majored in organizational leadership and business administration at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, choosing to attend the university on a baseball scholarship. Upon graduation, he returned to the DFW metroplex and attended SMU Dedman School of Law to obtain his Juris Doctorate.

During his time in law school, Chris interned in the legal department for Jamba, an international smoothie franchise, working directly with its general counsel for issues pertaining to franchise, corporate, and trademark law.

When Chris graduated, he worked as a franchise associate attorney at Mullin Law, PC, where he co-wrote an article for the Franchise Law Journal. While serving in this role, he drafted franchise documents and contracts for many large franchisors, franchisees, and entrepreneurs.

Chris also at Zoe’s Kitchen, Inc., where he worked in-house for a large restaurant chain on corporate, franchise, and employment issues concerning the corporation.

Chris is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas.
