Brian Liu is a legal entrepreneur, innovator, and passionate advocate for making the law work for everyone -- not just those who can easily afford or navigate it.

As the Founder and former CEO and Chairman of LegalZoom, Brian helped transform how millions of people access legal services. When he founded LegalZoom in 1999, he saw an opportunity to use technology to make common but important legal documents more accessible, affordable, and understandable. That same belief continues to shape his work today with L&F Brown. He believes that justice should not depend on the strength of your bank account.

At L&F Brown, Brian sets the tone for the firm's mission, culture, and values. His guiding philosophy is simple: in today's AI-powered world, human relationships matter more than ever, because law is ultimately about people. A successful outcome depends not only on obtaining great results, but also on treating the client with attentiveness, respect and compassion. Brian is passionate about building a firm culture that treats every client with dignity, listens to their story, and fights relentlessly for the justice they deserve.

Brian founded LegalZoom with minimal outside investment and served as CEO from its inception through 2007, later serving as Chairman of the Board through 2018. Under his leadership, LegalZoom grew from a startup into one of the most recognized names in legal services, ultimately becoming a publicly traded company on Nasdaq in 2021.

His commitment to expanding access to justice extends beyond LegalZoom. Brian serves on the advisory panel for Lawtech UK, a public-private partnership focused on increasing legal access through technology, and advises several consumer-facing legal tech startup companies on business and legal matters. He is also involved in ventures outside the legal industry, including serving on the board of Da Zen Theranostics, a discovery-stage oncology drug developer.

Brian began his legal career at the prestigious Sullivan & Cromwell law firm before moving in-house to Oaktree Capital Management. He earned his law degree from UCLA and has remained deeply engaged to both the law school and the Los Angeles startup community. A longtime Sherman Oaks resident, Brian is deeply rooted in the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles.
